The New York Design Center held its third annual “What’s New, What’s Next” event earlier this week, and we spotted an array of inspired new products while we were there.  We thought we’d share some of the more innovative ideas in lighting design that were on display:

Aqua Creations debuted the 96 Molecules floor and table lamps.

The origami-inspired shades are folded by hand, combining traditional techniques of Japanese paper folding with advanced technology. The light itself emanates from LEDs.

Also by Aqua Creations, these beautiful silk-over-metal lighting options featured on Contemporist are similar to the fresh products we found at NYDC, and we love their simple, romantic beauty.

Mottega offers customizable lighting through Arteriors, allowing people to choose the body shape, base, shade, finial and color of their choice.

The organic, hand-blown look of Laura Kirar’s Caviar Collection left us breathless.  Here’s the Caviar table lamp on display, also at Arteriors:
